First Annual Pitch Competition of EBCI
On February 21, 2025, the University of Kigali, in collaboration with Queen’s University, the Dunin-Deshpande Innovation Centre, successfully hosted the First Final Pitch Competition.
This groundbreaking event brought together emerging entrepreneurs, investors, and industry experts to showcase and evaluate some promising business ideas.

Opening
The day began with a Guest Reception & Welcome Coffee, creating an atmosphere of excitement and networking. The University of Kigali Vice Chancellor officially opened the event.

Expert Insights
A series of compelling keynote addresses set the stage, featuring influential speakers who shared their insights on entrepreneurship and business growth.
The lineup included the Executive Director of Queen’s University, H.E. Naeem Khan, Ambassador of Pakistan in Rwanda, distinguished representatives from UNESCO and BDF and many more.
Their impactful speeches provided valuable perspectives on fostering innovation, sustainable development, and strategic business expansion.

Cultural Exchange
A traditional Rwandan cultural dance performance provided a moment of celebration and cultural appreciation.
The First Final Pitch Competition
The highlight of the event was the Pitch Competition, where 7 promising entrepreneurs presented their business ideas before a panel of 4 esteemed judges.
The First Final Pitch Competition was more than just a contest—it was a launchpad for innovation, collaboration, and the future of entrepreneurship in Rwanda. We extend our warmest congratulations to the winners and all participants, and a huge thank you to our judges, partners, and organizers for making this event a success!

Fabrice Ishimwe won first prize for his Ubumwe Education inclusion for Disabilities project in Rwanda.

Yasmine Malika Ouedraogo won second place for her agro-bio-innovation project.

Kiro Idellie Batiga finished third for her project Idabro's Industry.

Prizes - laptops and tablets - were also awarded to all pitch competition participants.
